I chose to read Tuesdays with Morrie as my Independent Reading book this second quarter. A friend of mine recommended this book to me countless times. She always talked about how amazing this book was and how I should read it. However, I was not swayed by her persuasions. Time passed and I needed to find a good novel to read for my next Independent Reading Project. I didn't have any book in mind, so I decided to give this novel a try. I am so glad I did!
At first glance, the book cover looked plain, but I didn't want to judge the book before actually reading it. The first chapter immediately made me want to read more! I finished the book in a span of three days; probably the fastest I've ever read a book. The novel is such a warm and inspiring story about life. I was interested in what Morrie had to say and how Mitch connected to his philosophies. I was even interested to learn about the lives of both Morrie and Mitch. I definitely took a lot of insight from this book and am able to understand more about life through Morrie. Without a doubt, I recommend this book to anyone willing to find out more about the meaning of life and want a heart-warming story to share with others. -April Cano
